Intense & intensely rewarding project. We spent a year hanging out with the scientists who monitor the sun & it’s impact on the earth. Found out that we are in an ever-increasingly complex & fragile system. If a big geomagnetic event comes our way, the entire US power grid could go out for months, GPS, telecommunications & our food supply would be disrupted as well.
In the meantime, we worked on taming a website with thousands of pages and no information architecture so speak of. We interviewed scientists & stakeholders, and worked out a model that accommodated both data-intensive presentations for the scientists, and information-rich presentations for the rest of us.
